Further proving Nissan's commitment to driver safety, Nissan recently introduced two notable innovations to their vehicles: Brake Override Technology and the Emergency Engine Shut-Off System. Combined, these two safety advancements provide an industry-first level of safety for drivers, so much so that the federal government has shown interest and is now considering making one of the technologies a requirement for all vehicles, industry-wide.
So how do they work and what do they do, you ask? Let us tell you. At those extreme times when drivers try to stop at high speeds and accidently hit both the brake and the accelerator, Brake Override Technology steps in and decreases the engine throttle opening so that engine power is reduced and the brakes are able to operate at their full potential..
The Emergency Engine Shut-Off System is designed to prevent accidents even before they happen. When applied, the Emergency Engine Shut-Off system, which is standard in all new Nissans, allows drivers to instantly cut off power from the engine with three simple taps of their push-start-button or by holding it in for two seconds.
