Nissan Takes to the Seas with New Car Carrier

Many of our drivers may not know that Nissan is involved in many projects besides its standard 2012 Nissan vehicle offerings. Take its maritime vehicles, for example. The Japanese auto manufacturer has been transporting vehicles across the seas with cargo ships for years, but now the company will be doing this with more efficient maritime vessels. Nissan recently unveiled a new, energy-efficient, sea-worthy vehicle and parts carrier.
The new Nissan coastal ship used solar power panels and propels itself using an electrically-controlled diesel engine. The ship's hull is painted using a low-friction coating, and its living quarters and hold use LED lighting, to name a few of the energy-efficient features. The ship achieves a fuel reduction of almost 1,4000 tons each year (which equals an annual reduction of about 4,200 tons of CO2 emissions).
The new Nissan ship will not only have a smaller carbon footprint; it will also increase the auto manufacturer's weekly sailings from four to six, which will improve the time it takes for Nissan vehicles to get to their destinations.
Nissan is known for its green initiatives and dedication to conservation efforts. Even its traditional vehicles, like the 2012 Nissan LEAF are focused on reducing, reusing, and recycling. Have you had the opportunity to see the new 2012 models in-person? If not, feel free to stop by Randy Reed Nissan, located at 9600 NW Prairie View Road Kansas City, MO 64153, and check out what you've been missing!
